Johnson was born in Kasese District in Western Uganda and is a Mukonzo by tribe.

Since his childhood Johnson has had a keen interest in the fauna of Uganda. For the last 23 years, Johnson has been involved in wildlife and conservation within Uganda.

Johnson started his career by working with Rwenzori Mountaineering Services for 16 years, but his specialty now is in animals and birds. Over the numerous years of working in direct contact with a huge variety of animals and bird species, Johnson has gathered an outstanding amount of knowledge on animal and bird behavior. During game drives, Johnson loves to be able to inform you of the social structure of the variety of animal groups, their reproductive behavior, their hunting strategies and techniques as well as numerous other interesting animal facts.
